Meteksan to exhibit its naval simulation & training solutions at DIMDEX 2014

Meteksan is going to participate in the Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition & Conference (DIMDEX) 2014 to be held between 25 – 27 March 2014 in Qatar and exhibit its naval simulation & training solutions including DCSIM and NAWAS at their stand no: H6-16 during the exhibition.

Simulation is a major component of daily military training activites and, when combined with live exercises, is not only cost effective but also life saver.

Meteksan is a leading company in Turkey’s defence industry, known especially for its simulation solutions for the naval sector. It is a subsidiary of Bilkent Holding, which is owned by Bilkent University. The company employs more than 200 personnel who are very much dedicated to invest in technology development to provide effective solutions in Sensor Technologies, Communication Systems, Underwater Acoustic Technologies and Simulation Technologies. Under these areas Meteksan operates especially on radar systems, laser systems, data link systems, sonar systems, simulation software and training simulators.

Meteksan Damage Control Simulator (DCSIM)

With live saving cost control in mind, Meteksan’s Simulation System Group (SSG) has developed two naval simulation products, Damage Control Simulator (DCSIM) and Naval War Game Simulation System (NAWAS). Both systems are in use by the Turkish Naval Forces Command at Golcuk, as part of the Surface Training Centre of the fleet, and a contract has been signed with the Royal Navy of Oman for DCSIM.

Meteksan Damage Control Simulator (DCSIM)

Damage control is an essential capability to preserve the integrity, stability and manoeuverability of vessels, by keeping the ship afloat, moving and fulfilling her mission. Damage, therefore, must be quickly confined and repaired. To facilitate this, the DCSIM environment enables the crew to develop and conduct realistic damage control exercises, while also simulating casualties as realistically as possible. It has been shown that consistent and realistic training produces an optimal level of readiness that enables repair teams to react more efficiently and effectively.

Meteksan Naval War Game Simulation System (NAWAS)

While DCSIM can help save lives, Meteksan’s NAWAS is an interactive, realistic, multi- user, multi-resolution contractive simulation system that models naval war games. Its main goals are to establish realistic and cost – effective training, as well as to provide an environment for assessing plans and to increase the mission effectiveness/readiness of personnel.

NAWAS has a generic infrastructure so that users can add new types of platforms, sensors or weapons to the system while executing the war game. It is also possible to update the parameters of the existing platforms, sensors or weapons so that new maps, environmental conditions or inventory data can be added using the tools provided by the system.

Meteksan Naval War Game Simulation System (NAWAS)

NAWAS supports all types of naval conflict, including surface warfare, submarine and anti-submarine warfare, air support for maritime operations, anti-air warfare, mine warfare, electronic warfare, logistics operations, amphibious operations and CBRN warfare. It is interoperable with other simulation systems using a high-level architecture (HLA) interface and the system can be accessed remotely.
