French Navy FREMM Frigate Languedoc Returned From 104 Days-Long Deployment
 
The French Navy (Marine Nationale) announced that the Aquitaine-class Frigate Languedoc, the third FREMM (Multi Mission Frigate) of the class, returned to Toulon naval base on November 24th after a long period deployment. The Frigate set sail on August 12th for the a long cruise which took her to the North Atlantic and the Arctic.

The Frigate sailed to the United States, Canada, Iceland, Norway and Scotland. The crew even sailed past the Arctic Circle, reaching 80 ° North.

During her mission, Languedoc and her crew were able to check the military capabilities of the ship in demanding seas and environments. The crew also trained with allied navies off the coast of Canada, participated in theater operations off Norway and supported exports of the French defense industry in Montreal, Reykjavik and Oslo.

In total, more than 100 operational evaluations were conducted, under the authority of the Permanent Commission of Programs and Tests (CPPE). The crew returned fully confident in the outstanding capabilities and performance of the vessel. The Languedoc crew now looks forward to experiencing in an operational context.

With the feeling of duty accomplished, the crew returned to Toulon, after 20,000 nautical voyages in the North Atlantic and the Arctic to contribute to the defense off French interests.

Languedoc was delivered by DCNS on 16 March 2016. The French Navy is set to officially declare "ready for active duty" FREMM Languedoc at the end of the year following the long cruise.
