"A Su-33 fighter overrun the deck due to an arrester system`s cable break during the landing at the 'Admiral Kuznetsov' heavy aircraft-carrying cruiser after the completion of a combat task in the Syrian sky," a MoD`s official said.

According to the Ministry, "the pilot ejected himself from the aircraft; he was immidiately transferred to the 'Admiral Kuznetsov' ship by the search-and-rescue service". "The pilot`s health is out of danger", the MoD added.

"The flights of the shipborne aviation are continuing in accordance with the tasks," the Ministry said in the message. Russia`s naval aircraft-carrying task force is continuing the completion of the tasks in the Mediterranean Sea in accordance with the cruise plan.

In November, an incident that involved a MiG-29K fighter took place due to a technical malfunction.
