The Modem 21 is a military modem that enables satellite communications to be protected against jamming, interferences or intrusion. Its first version has been in operation within the French forces since 2005, and shortly thereafter within NATO. The latest generation high bandwidth Modem 21 is currently deployed in military communication systems of several countries in the world.

This latest award confirms Norway's continuing confidence in Thales following the successful integration of the Modem 21 system on board the Nansen class frigates in 2011.

Modem 21 complies with STANAG 4606 to provide NATO members with fully operational communication solutions.
