Russian Project 21631 corvette Grad to be launch at the end of the month.

According to information published by Tass on September 8, 2021, the Project 21631 corvette "Grad" (Buyan-M-class) will be launched in September in Zelenodolsk, said to the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy (VMF) Nikolai Yevmenov.

The Russian Navy now operates nine Project 21631 ships, namely, "Grad Sviyazhsk" (factory number: 631, pennant number: 652), "Uglich" (factory number: 632, pennant number: 653), "Veliky Ustyug" (factory number: 633, pennant number: 651), "Zeleny Dol" (factory number: 634, pennant number: 562), "Serpukhov" (factory number: 635, pennant number: 563), "Vyshny Volochyok" (factory number: 636, pennant number: 609), "Orekhovo- Zuyevo" (factory number: 637, pennant number: 626), "Ingushetia" (factory number: 638, pennant number: 630), and "Grayvoron". The Caspian Flotilla operates "Grad Sviyazhsk", "Uglich", and "Veliky Ustyug", while "Zeleny Dol" and "Serpukhov" are issued to the Baltic Fleet.

The Zelenodolsk Shipyard now builds three Buyan-M-class frigates, namely, "Grad" (factory number: 640), "Naro-Fominsk" (factory number: 641), and "Stavropol" (factory number: 642). Those ships are set to be delivered to the Navy before the end of 2023.

The Grayvoron is a Buyan-M-class guided missile corvette russian designation 21631. Laid down on April 2015. She was launched on April 2020 and commissioned on January 2021. The ship is primarily designed for operations within littoral zones to protect Russia's vast coastal areas.

The Grayvoron Buyan-M-class corvette is powered by CODAD (Combined diesel and diesel) propulsion system that includes four Zvezda M520 developping 14,584 shp (10,880 kW) and Kolomna Diesel, Pumpjet. She can reach a top speed of 26 knots (48 km/h) with a maximum crusing range 2,300 nmi (4,300 km) at 12 knots. She has a length of 75 m, a beam of 11 m and a displacement of 949 tons. The corvette has a crew of 52 sailors and a endurance of 10 days.

The Grayvoron corvette is armed one 100 mm A-190-01 naval gun, two 30 mm AK-630-M2 CIWS (Close-In Weapon System), one Pantsir-M CIWS (Stavropol) air defense missile system, height UKSK VLS (Vertical Launching System) cells for Kalibr or Oniks anti-ship cruise missiles, eight Komar surface-to-air missiles, one DP-65 anti-saboteur grenade launcher and two 14.5 mm KPV type anti-aircraft four-barrel machine guns.
