Navy of Ghana acquires four Flex-fighter security vessels from Penguin company of Singapore.

According to information published by the "Graphic Online" Website on January 5, 2022, the Navy of Ghana has acquired four Flex-fighter security vessels that will boots efforts at making Ghana’s maritime space safer and unattractive to pirates and other illegal activities.

The Ghana Navy command structure consists of the Naval Headquarters at Burma Camp, Accra. There are three operational commands, the Western Naval Command at Sekondi, the Eastern Naval Command at Tema and The Naval Training Command at Nutekpor-Sogakope in the Volta Region.

Currently the Navy of Ghana has a total 11 ships including four Snake-class patrol vessels, two Balsam-class patrol ships, one Chamsuri-class patrol boat, two Albatros-class fast attack craft and two Warrior-class/Gepard-class fast attack craft.

The Flex Fighter vessel is manufactured by the company Penguin located in Singapore, the vessel is based on Penguin’s well-proven Flex-40 Series crew boat design and powered by three Caterpillar C32 main engines, the Flex Fighter is the oil industry’s standard for armored security crew boats, with industry-leading speed, comfort and endurance.

The newly upgraded 2021 Flex Fighter MaX is fitted with all-round wheelhouse ballistic protection, machine gun mounts with gunner shields forward and aft, plush cabins and amenities for 12 security personnel, heavy-duty/self-cleaning fuel oil purifier, external fire fighting monitor, as well as reclining seats for 54 pax (versus 42 pax in our 2020 model) and a 93-sqm cargo deck. For our 2021 model, we have included FuelTrax’s Electronic Fuel Management System as a standard feature. One new and exciting feature of our 2021 FLEX FIGHTER MAX is a fully fitted pantry on the main deck for passengers and security personnel.

The Flex Fighter has an overall length of 40,0 m and is powered by 3 Caterpillar C32 ACERT IMO Tier 2 engines, each developing 1,450 hp. She can reach a top speed of 28 knots (52 km/h).
