The Type 075, particularly the 'Hainan' ship, is a multi-functional combat vessel capable of transporting a range of equipment including tanks, armored vehicles, troops, and various aircraft.

The Hainan measures 225 meters in length, making it the second-largest warship in the Chinese Navy after their operational aircraft carriers. It is structured across three levels, with the top deck serving as a flight deck of 36 meters in width, capable of handling simultaneous aircraft operations, including accommodating nine Z-8 heavy helicopters.

The hangar on the second level can house up to 20 helicopters, with additional space for about ten more on the deck, summing up to a total capacity of approximately 30 helicopters. These aircraft are essential for rapid deployment of troops and equipment in naval operations. The third level of the ship is designed to carry 50 armored vehicles and four Type 726 hovercraft, which are used for beach landings and quick troop movements.

The Type 726 landing craft has undergone upgrades to its engines, leading to the new 726A model equipped with QC70 small gas turbine engines, a move aimed at improving the overall functionality of the Chinese Navy. The Type 075 is designed to carry four such crafts, enhancing its utility in combat situations.

The Type 075 is capable of carrying a substantial number of troops, tanks, and armored vehicles. In an invasion scenario, these capabilities are crucial for establishing a beachhead and sustaining ground forces during initial stages of an assault. The ability to transport and rapidly deploy a large contingent of armed forces and heavy equipment would be critical in gaining a foothold on the island.

Helicopters like the Z-8, capable of various roles including transport, anti-submarine warfare, and search and rescue, extend the operational reach of the ship. In an invasion scenario, maintaining air superiority and providing immediate air support to ground forces are vital.
