According to information published by EDGE on November 14, 2023, EDGE Group has secured a lucrative contract to provide the Brazilian Navy with cutting-edge surface-to-surface missile systems, valued at approximately AED 0.6 billion. The deal includes the extended-range National Surface Anti-Ship Missiles (MANSUP-ER) and a shorter-range variant of the system.

The agreement was formalized at the Dubai Airshow, where Mansour AlMulla, Managing Director & CEO of EDGE Group, and Rear Admiral Marcelo Menezes Cardoso, Director of Navy Weapons Systems of the Brazilian Navy, signed the Letter of Intent (LOI) at EDGE's stand.

The MANSUP-ER system, a joint development between EDGE, the Brazilian Navy, and Brazilian Smart Weapons and High-Tech System specialist SIATT (in which EDGE holds a 50% stake), is designed to meet the needs of the UAE Navy, the Brazilian Navy's Frigate program, and international clients.

The long-range missile, boasting adaptive sea-skimming abilities, a 200 km range, inertial guidance, and active radar homing, is currently under intensive testing by Brazil's naval fleet. Plans are also in place to adapt the MANSUP solutions for air and land systems.

Rear Admiral Marcelo Menezes Cardoso emphasized the significance of the collaboration in enhancing the Brazilian Navy's capabilities and safeguarding maritime interests. He acknowledged the joint commitment to innovation and co-development of state-of-the-art defense technology as a key driver of the partnership.

This contract is a direct result of the cooperation agreement signed between EDGE and the Brazilian Navy at the LAAD defense exhibition in Rio de Janeiro earlier this year. The agreement focuses on co-developing advanced long-range anti-ship missile technology within the framework of the MANSUP national anti-ship missile project, with SIATT providing essential systems like guidance, navigation, control, and telemetry.
