Characterized by its large size, with a displacement of over 40,000 tons and measuring more than 200 meters in length, the Type 075 fits within the larger categories of amphibious warfare ships.

It features a flight deck that allows for the operation of multiple helicopters simultaneously and houses a hangar for storing various aircraft types, enhancing its air support and logistical capabilities.

Equipped with elevators at both the front and rear, the ship facilitates efficient aircraft movement between the hangar and flight deck. The Type 075 also includes a well deck and cargo areas designed for launching and transporting hovercraft, tanks, and armored vehicles, enabling direct deployment capabilities to coastal areas.

The design emphasis of the Type 075 is on supporting a broad spectrum of amphibious assault capabilities, encompassing air, surface, and underwater operations. It is outfitted to accommodate different landing crafts and amphibious vehicles, crucial for executing comprehensive and complex landing operations.

Operationally, the Type 075 is positioned to act as a flagship within amphibious task forces, undertaking a variety of missions from combat-focused amphibious assaults to humanitarian assistance and disaster relief efforts. Its design for projecting force and deploying troops ashore aligns with the PLAN's strategic objectives for power projection and sea control.
