Our informed readers may notice that only half an island was actually fitted on September 24th. This is the part that lies ahead of the funnel and aft deck.

With the handful of pictures that have been released to date, East Pendulum can already say that the second Chinese aircraft carrier will have a different island than the one aboard Type 001 Liaoning. Not only an additional bridge level was added, but the placement of electronic equipment has also been reviewed and optimized. There are further minor adjustments that can be found along the hull.

The final shape of the island of the new Chinese aircraft carrier is still unknown, but other pictures indicate that additional modules are being assembled in the shipyard in Dalian. Chinese defence magazines have already revealed their "guestimations" of what the final result may look like.
