Russian frigate Admiral Golovko conducts 2nd stage of sea trials.

According to information published by Tass on December 28, 2022, the frigate Admiral Golovko has sailed into the Baltic Sea for the second stage of sea trials, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

The first stage of sea trials took place late November — early December this year. Special attention was paid to the frigate’s main propulsion unit and navigational equipment.

Admiral Golovko is the third in order and the second serial frigate of project 22350. The Northern Fleet has two ships of this project at the moment: Admiral Gorshkov and Admiral Kasatonov.

Project 22350 frigates are typical ships of long-ship design, with a solid superstructure made using composite construction materials based on polyvinyl chloride and carbon fibers (composite materials provide reduction of the ship's secondary radar field through absorption and scattering of radio waves).

Thanks to the original superstructure architecture and the use of composite construction materials ("stealth"), the effective scattering surface of the ship is reduced, which in turn reduces its radar and optical signature.

A CODOG diesel-gas turbine power plant with a total capacity of 65,400 horsepower was selected.

Displacement is standard - 4,500 tons. The full cruising speed is 29.5 knots. The range is 4,500 nautical miles at 14 knots. Sailing autonomy on provisions - 30 days. Crew - 170-210 people.

Guided missile frigates of project 22350 are armed with four 3S-97 modules with 32 cells for Poliment-Redut missiles. The shipborne Poliment-Redut 3K96-2 complex fires four types of guided short ((M100E), medium (9M96E), and long-range (9M96E2 and 9M96E2-1) missiles unified for S-350 air defense weapon.
