Fourth Project 636.3 Varshavyanka class SSK Launched by Russia's JSC "Admiralty Shipyards"
 
"Krasnodar" (B-265), the fourth Project 636.3 (or Varshavyanka class) diesel-electric submarine (SSK) was launched by Russian shipyard JSC "Admirality Shipyards" in St. Petersburg on April 25, 2015. The submarine was laid down in February last year and should be commissioned into the Russian Navy Black Sea Fleet this year.
     
"Krasnodar" (B-265), the fourth Project 636.3 (or Varshavyanka class) diesel-electric submarine (SSK) was launched by Russian shipyard JSC "Admirality Shipyards" in St. Petersburg on April 25, 2015. JSC "Admiralty Shipyards" was contracted to build six Project 636.3 SSK for Russia's Black Sea Fleet. The head unit of the series called "Novorossiysk" (B-261) was laid down in August 2010 and commissioned on 22 August 2014.

In September 2011, a contract was signed for the construction of the remaining five submarines. The second in the series "Rostov-on-Don" (B-237 ) was laid at the "Admiralty Shipyards" in November 2011, launched on 26 June 2014 and commissioned in the Russian Navy on December 30, 2014. The third submarine "Stary Oskol" (B-262) was laid at the "Admiralty Shipyards" on August 17, 2012, launched on 28 August 2014 and began sea trials in March 2015. The next submarine "Krasnodar" (B-265) was laid down on February 20, 2014 and launched on April 25, 2015.

JSC "Admiralty Shipyards" continues the construction the next last two submarines of Project 636.3 according to the contract: the "Veliky Novgorod" (B-268) and the "Kolpino" (B-271), both hulls were laid down on October 30, 2014.

The Varshavyanka class (Project 636.3) is an improved version of the Kilo class submarines, featuring advanced “stealth” technology, extended combat range and ability to strike land, surface and underwater targets. They are primarily intended for anti-ship and anti-submarine missions in relatively shallow waters. They are crewed by 52 submariners, have an underwater speed of 20 knots and a cruising range of 400 miles with the ability to patrol for 45 days.
