The PASSEX was organized to commemorate the 71st Anniversary of Operation Dragoon (World War II Allied landing on Southern France) and during which French cruiser Montcalm provided accurate and effective coastal fire support.

During this PASSEX, the French frigate and American destroyer conducted joint training in:
- anti-submarine warfare
- tactical datalink
- anti-surface warfare (with main guns against floating targets).

These successfully conducted trainings are aimed to maintain the both navies ability to operate jointly and immediately should the need arises.

In addition, 10 French sailors were transferred aboard USS Porter while 10 US sailors got the chance to get aboard Montcalm.
