All Eight ROK Navy AW159 Wildcat Naval Helicopters Now Operational

The Republic of Korea Navy (ROK Navy) announced that four more of its newly acquired AW159 Wildcat maritime helicopters are now operational, meaning the entire fleet is now ready for combat operations. The ROK Navy acquired eight AW159 last year in two batches in June and December, respectively. The first four were deployed in February with Incheon-class frigates.

The French Navy (Marine Nationale) announced that the Aquitaine-class Frigate Languedoc, the third FREMM (Multi Mission Frigate) of the class, and the D'Entrecasteaux-class B2M (for bâtiment multi-missions or multi-mission vessel) Champlain, are now both on "Active Duty" and able to conduct operational missions following a ceremony held July 4th in presence of the Chief of Staff of the French Navy Admiral Prazuck.

Huntington Ingalls Industries’ (HII) Ingalls Shipbuilding division announced today that the amphibious transport dock Portland (LPD 27) has completed her first set of sea trials. Ingalls’ test and trials team spent four days in the Gulf of Mexico operating the 11th San Antonio-class ship and demonstrating its systems.

The Lockheed Martin-led industry team launched the 15th Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) into the Menominee River at the Fincantieri Marinette Marine shipyard on July 1. Ship sponsor Sharla D. Tester christened LCS 15, the future USS Billings, in Navy tradition by breaking a champagne bottle across the ship's bow just prior to the launch.
 

Successful First Test Firing for MBDA Sea Venom / ANL Anti-ship Missile
 
ANL Sea Venom Test MBDA DGA 1 French Defence Procurement Agency (DGA) and MBDA teams successfully completed the first launch of the Antinavire Léger (ANL / Sea Venom ) missile on 21 June 2017 on the Mediterranean site of the DGA Missile Testing Center. The test was conducted from the DGA's Panther test helicopter.
 

Turkey Launch its Final MILGEM-class Corvette & Start Construction on First Istanbul-class Frigate
 
TCG Kinaliada MILGEM Ada class Turkey Turkey yesterday launched its fourth and final MILGEM (Ada) class corvette, TCG Kinaliada (hull number F-514) during a ceremony held in presence of President Erdogan. The event also officially marked the start of the construction of the first Istanbul-class Frigate.
 

China's 25th Type 054A Frigate Commissioned with PLAN North Sea Fleet

The People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN or Chinese Navy) commissioned its 25th Type 054A Frigate (Jiangkai II-class) "Wuhu" (hull number 539). The Commissioning ceremony took place on June 29th at Lvshun Kou naval base (Dalian province). The frigate joins the PLAN North Sea Fleet. This comes just six days after the commissioning of the 24th vessel of the class.

HII Awarded $218 Million Advance Procurement Contract for LPD 29 Amphibious Transport Dock

Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) announced today that its Ingalls Shipbuilding division has received a $218 million, cost-plus-fixed-fee advance procurement contract from the U.S. Navy to provide long-lead-time material and advance construction activities for LPD 29, the 13th amphibious transport dock of the San Antonio (LPD 17) class.

The naval weapon systems Pantsir-ME and its forerunners Kashtan and Kashtan-M developed by the Tula KBP (part of the High Precision Systems Holding of Rostec State Corporation) are the only systems in the world that combine a powerful artillery armament, an effective multimode missile armament and an integrated radar-optical armament control system in a single turret mount. Equipped with two types of armament (which is already a considerable advantage), these systems have better characteristics of each individual armament type as compared to their analogues.

Seagull, Elbit Systems’ groundbreaking Multi-Mission USV, participated in the bi- national MCM trials for unmanned maritime systems that were organized by the Directorate General of Material Resources (DGMR) of the Belgian Defence Ministry. Taking part in the trials conducted at the beginning of June off the Belgian Zeebrugge Naval Base, were several companies operating different types of unmanned underwater and surface vehicles.

Defence and security company Saab has signed a contract with the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) for the modification and upgrading of the Swedish Marine’s Gävle-class corvettes. The order value amounts to BSEK 1.249 and the work will be carried out during the period of 2017-2020.
