Builders’ Trials of the new Project 21631 Buyan-M Corvette Vyshniy Volochek Underway
 
Builders’ sea trials of the new Project 21631 Buyan-M-class corvette (small missile ship) Vyshniy Volochek for the Russian Navy Black Sea Fleet are underway in Novorossiysk, the Southern Military District’s press service reported.

"During the trials, the crew of the ship and specialists of the design bureau and shipbuilding enterprise check the reliability of the systems, mechanisms and armaments of the ship in different operating conditions at sea," the press service said in a statement.

Auxiliary vessels from the Novorossiisk Naval Base and the Black Sea Fleet’s naval aircraft are involved to support the trials.

Vyshniy Volochek is the sixth ship of improved Project 21631 (Buyan-M), which have a larger displacement and are equipped with the Kalibr universal missile system, designed to destroy sea and shore targets.
