The Dutch company Atmos UAV has been selected by Naval Group for the testing of its innovative fixed-wing VTOL (Vertical Take Off and Landing) UAV solution for evaluation purposes. With this agreement, Naval Group deepens its existing commitments to the Dutch innovative industry building and expanding existing relationships with more than 70 companies and knowledge centers.

MBDA’s Marte ER anti-ship missile has completed its first firing, successfully passing a major phase in its development. The firing trial was carried out on 9 November in an Italian test range. The Marte ER missile flew for more than 100 km on a planned trajectory that included several waypoints and sea skimming flight, successfully testing all flying phases.

Australia’s historic shift to continuous naval shipbuilding begins today with construction starting on a new modern fleet of Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs). In a major boost for local jobs and advanced manufacturing, Luerssen Australia and ASC today welded the first steel for the first of 12 OPVs for the Royal Australian Navy.

South Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) announced today that it has concluded a contract to build the fifth and sixth Frigates of the Incheon FFX Batch II class (FFG-II also known as Daegu-class) for the Republic of Korea Navy. The contract amount is W631.5bn, and DSME will complete construction by the end of 2022. The company also won orders worth W26.6bn for submarines on Feb 2nd.

Naval Group has launched its subsidiary in the Netherlands, Naval Group Netherlands, led by Mark van Rooij, to serve the group’s commitment to establish long-term industrial activities. This Netherlands subsidiary strengthens Naval Group’s global footprint and constitutes a strategic step in the context of future international naval programs.

Rolls-Royce has been awarded a contract by the Spanish ship builder Freire to deliver ship design and equipment systems for a new oceanographic research vessel for Belgium. The IMO polar code compliant vessel will be designed to carry out research and survey tasks in the North Sea and its adjacent sea areas, but also in the Mediterranean and more northern areas.

Kongsberg Digital has been selected to deliver and support a suite of sophisticated K-Sim Navigation ready ship’s bridge simulators for the Royal Austalian Navy. The contract will enable the Royal Australian to significantly increase its training capacity and reduce costs associated with qualifying bridge watch keepers and other staff before going to sea.
