"The ship’s crew is currently completing preparations for an inter-base passage that will take place in the imminent future. Work has been carried out onboard the frigate to prepare its weapons and equipment for operation in winter conditions," the press office said.

The Admiral Gorshkov frigate is the Northern Fleet’s most advanced warship. It was built by the Northern Shipyard in St. Petersburg in northwest Russia and put into operation by the fleet in July 2018.

The ship took part in several exercises and performed a round-the-world cruise. It takes part in the Main Naval Parade in Kronstadt in northwest Russia on a regular basis.

The Admiral Gorshkov class, Russian designation Project 22350, is the newest class of frigates being built by the Severnaya Verf in Saint Petersburg for the Russian Navy. The class was designed by the Severnoye Design Bureau and incorporates stealth technology.

Project 22350 frigates displace 5,000 tons, measure 135 meters in length and have a cruising range of 4,500 miles. Armed with stand-off anti-ship and land-attack cruise missiles, the frigates are multipurpose platforms designed for anti-air, anti-surface, and anti-submarine warfare operations. The ships can alternatively carry the 3M-54 Kalibr, a stand-off supersonic anti-ship cruise missile, the P-800 Oniks over-the-horizon supersonic anti-ship missile, or the 3M22 Zircon anti-ship hypersonic cruise missile.
