With the contract signing for construction for the new supply ship HNLMS Den Helder, more than a hundred, mainly Dutch companies receive work. The contract was signed today in Den Helder by the Director of Defence Material Organization (DMO), Vice Admiral Arie Jan de Waard and Arnout Damen, the new CEO of the family business Damen Shipyards Group.

The Project 22800 Karakurt-class missile corvette Odintsovo built by the Pella Shipyard in St. Petersburg in northwest Russia has started dock trials to check the operation of some life support, radio navigation and communication systems and the main powerplant, the Defense Ministry’s press office said.

The 34th Chinese naval escort taskforce composed of guided-missile destroyer Yinchuan (Hull 175), guided-missile frigate Yuncheng (Hull 571) and comprehensive supply ship Weishanhu (Hull 887) conducted an exercise in eastern waters of the Gulf of Aden from February 9 to February 12, 2020.

The Cyprus navy’s new vessels The Poseidonas 1 and the Nireas 1 were presented to the public on January 19, 2020, in an event held at the old port of Limassol called ‘Looking at the Sea’. The ceremony took place at the "Evangelos Florakis" Naval Base, in the presence of the Minister of Defense, Mr Savvas Angelides and the leadership of the National Guard.

The Pakistan Navy has commissioned a 2300 Tonnes Corvette PNS YARMOOK (F-271) – a Damen OPV 1900 – in a ceremony held at Constanta Port, Romania on 13th February 2020. Attending the event was Vice Admiral Muhammad Fayyaz Gilani HI (M), Vice Chief of the Naval Staff as Chief Guest. The ceremony was also attended by teams from Ministry of Defense Production Rawalpindi, Chief Naval Overseer (Romania) and senior management of Damen Shipyards Group.
