Rybinsk Shipyard laid down the keel of 5th Russian BK-16 Project 02510 high-speed assault boat


According to information published by the Russian press agency TASS, on February 12, 2021, the Rybinsk Shipyard (a subsidiary of Rostec’s Kalashnikov Group) laid down the keel of the fifth Project 02510 (BK-16) fast assault craft for Russia’s National Guard (Rosgvardiya), according to the press department of the Kalashnikov Group.

“The BK-16 boat was laid down on February 5. It is the fifth boat of the class for Rosgvardiya. The naval platform is set to be delivered to the customer before the end of 2021,” said the head of Kalashnikov’s media department Mariya Vorobyeva.

The boat is designed to conduct Rosgvardiya’s typical missions, including medical evacuation, emergency assistance, and transportations. The BK-16 operates in both river and sea areas.

The high-speed assault boat is 18 m long and 4.08 m wide and has a draught of 0.9 m. It is controlled by a two-strong crew. She can reach a top speed of 45 knots (approximately 83 km/h), a cruising range of 400 miles, and an endurance of 24 hours.

The BK-16 can be armed with a wide range of weapons including 12,7 mm and 7,62 mm machine guns, remotely controlled combat machinegun, and grenade launcher modules.

Kalashnikov has developed several configurations of the boat, namely, firefighting, counter-sabotage, command, mine clearance, medical, and assault ones.
