SAFE Boats International is an American-based company who design and manufacture aluminum boat for military, law enforcement and fire professionals. Headquartered just outside Seattle, Washington in the city of Bremerton, SAFE Boats is 100 percent American owned and operated.

The Mk VI is the U.S. Navy’s next-generation Patrol Boat and is a part of the Navy Expeditionary Combat Command’s (NECC) fleet of combatant craft. The Mk VI PB’s mission is to provide operational commanders a capability to patrol shallow littoral areas beyond sheltered harbors and bays and into less sheltered open water for the purpose of force protection of friendly and coalition forces and critical infrastructure.

The Mk VI is designed for optimal performance, fuel economy, and firepower. Systems are designed to reduce Total Ownership Cost (TOC), minimize manpower and improve reliability and maintainability. Powered by twin diesel engines and water jets, the Mk VI PB is capable of speeds in excess 30 knots (55 km/h) at full load and a range in excess of 600 nautical miles (1,280 km). She has berthing accommodations, galley and head/shower facilities to allow for extended missions. Additionally, the boat can be outfitted with ballistic protection and armed with a variety of crew served and remotely operated weapons

The Mk VI patrol boat has a length of 25.8m, a beam of 6.2 m, and 1.2 m. It has a crew of 10 sailors and can carry 8 additional personnel. The boat is fully networked with a command, control, communication and computing, surveillance and intelligence (C4SI) suite for enhanced situational awareness, survivability, and multi-mission support which includes flat-screen monitors mounted throughout the ship. Payloads can be configured to fulfill missions ranging from mine-hunting to defending against swarm boat attacks.

The Mk VI can be armed with two remote-controlled Mk 38 Mod 2 25 mm chain guns and six crewed M2 .50 caliber machine guns. Depending on mission needs, gun mounts can hold M240 machine guns, M134 miniguns, and Mk 19 grenade launchers. The Mark VI is equipped with the MK50 Gun Weapon System (GWS), a shipboard version of the vehicle-mounted M153 CROWS remote turret that enables crewmen to use its camera and gun from the operator's station below deck.
