Russia and ASEAN held their fourth summit via a videoconference on October 28. The summit was timed for the 30th anniversary of the relations between Russia and the association celebrated this year.
The summit adopted a number of documents aimed at further developing strategic partnerships. The leaders approved a decision to hold the first-ever Russia-ASEAN naval maneuvers.
The Project 1155 large anti-submarine warfare ship Admiral Panteleyev will represent Russia in the drills. Admiral Panteleyev is an Udaloy-class destroyer of the Russian Navy. She is named after Yuri Aleksandrovich Panteleyev.
The Udaloy class, Russian designations Project 1155 Fregat and Project 11551 Fregat-M, are a series of anti-submarine guided-missile destroyers built for the Soviet Navy, seven of which are currently in service with the Russian Navy.
Twelve ships were built between 1980 and 1991, while the thirteenth ship built to a modified design, known as Udaloy II class, followed in 1999.
The displacement of project 1155 warships is close to 7 thousand tons and the speed is up to 29 knots. The armaments include artillery AK-100 and AK-630M pieces, anti-aircraft and anti-submarine Kinzhal and Rastrub-B missile complexes, rocket-assisted bomb launchers, torpedoes, and mines. Besides, each big antisubmarine warship can carry two Ka-27 helicopters.
