USS Fort Worth sets sail from Wisconsin shipyard on its maiden voyage for commissioning
 
Built by the Lockheed Martin team, the future USS Fort Worth (LCS 3) set sail Aug. 6 from the Marinette Marine shipyard in Wisconsin on its maiden voyage to Galveston, Texas, for its commissioning Sept. 22. Fort Worth will transit through the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Seaway before sailing down the East Coast and across the Gulf of Mexico on its way to Galveston.

Built by the Lockheed Martin team, the future USS Fort Worth (LCS 3) set sail Aug. 6 from the Marinette Marine shipyard in Wisconsin on its maiden voyage to Galveston, Texas, for its commissioning Sept. 22. Raytheon Company delivered the 2,000th Evolved SeaSparrow Missile to the NATO SeaSparrow Consortium. "ESSM is a model for global operations, and the delivery of our 2,000th missile demonstrates the significant commitment of our international team to continue providing this critical capability to the warfighter," said Ed Roesly, Raytheon Missile Systems' ESSM program director. "We have delivered ESSMs for a decade and expect continued production past 2017."

The contract includes options, which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of this contract to more than $105 million. RAM Block 2 features enhanced kinematics, an evolved radio frequency receiver, a new rocket motor, and an upgraded control and autopilot system.

The scalable AMDR S-band radar and radar suite controller will provide significantly increased sensitivity for simultaneous long-range detection and engagement of advanced anti-ship and ballistic missile threats.
