Raytheon Tests New APG-79(V)X AESA Radar to Lengthen US Navy F/A-18C-D Hornet Relevance
 
A successful flight test of the Raytheon-built APG-79(V)X AESA radar system has demonstrated the functions needed to extend the relevance of F/A-18C/D Hornet fighter/attack jets, including: extended detection ranges, simultaneous air-to-air and air-to-ground capabilities, production of high-resolution synthetic aperture radar (SAR) mapping and industry leading reliability.

Lockheed Martin Selects Marotta Controls to Develop Power Conversion Units for LRASM
 
Marotta Controls announces that it has been selected by Lockheed Martin to develop multiple power conversion units for the Long-Range Anti-Ship Missile (LRASM), which Lockheed Martin is developing as a joint program with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, the Department of the Navy and the U.S. Air Force. Lockheed Martin will integrate Marotta’s power conversion units into various avionics systems within the missile.

Austal launched the sixth in-series Cape Class Patrol Boat (CCPB) at the company’s Australian Defence Facility in Henderson, Western Australia. The launch of Cape Leveque marks the third year in a row a CCPB has been launched in the first week of January; preceded by Cape St George (CCPB01) in 2013 and Cape Byron (CCPB02) in 2014.

Austal Built Joint High Speed Vessel USNS Trenton (JHSV 5) Christened
 
Austal christened USNS Trenton (JHSV 5) on January 10th at its state-of-the-art shipyard in Mobile, Alabama. USNS Trenton is the fifth of ten Joint High Speed Vessels (JHSV) that Austal has under contract with the U.S. Navy as part of an overall 10-ship block-buy contract worth over $1.6 billion.

That airplane, the 21st overall for the program, flew from Seattle to Naval Air Station Jacksonville in Florida on Jan. 8. It joined other P-8As being used to train Navy crews.

The French Navy announced yesterday that the anti-submarine frigate La Motte-Picquet (Georges Leygues class) deployed to the North Atlantic and Arctic area from 30 October to 2 December last year. The French Navy, who rarely patrols in the Arctic, explains that the objectives were to increase the sailors "knowledge and anticipation" in a zone of increasingly strategic importance.

Thales to upgrade fire control system on French Navy Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier
 
On behalf of the French Defence Procurement Agency (DGA), the Joint Armaments Cooperation Organisation (OCCAr) has awarded Thales a contract to upgrade the fire control system for the anti-air missiles deployed by the French Navy's Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier. The new equipment will be installed as part of the refit planned in 2018. Work will be completed when the Charles de Gaulle returns to active service.

The list is probably accurate because it was published on a Russian government online B2B trading platform. Admiral Nakhimov is a Kirov class nuclear-powered missile cruiser (Project 1144.2).

CSOC is part of the part of the State Shipbuilding Corporation, China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC).

Two Raptor (Project 03160) High Speed Patrol Boats to Join Russian Navy Black Sea Fleet
 
Russian shipyard Open Joint Stock Company "Pella" based in Leningrad announced two Project 03160 Raptor high speed patrol boats will join the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Navy in early 2015. In late December 2014 the boats were delivered to Novorossiysk naval base by trucks from the shipyard. To date, at the Novorossiisk base the vessels completed builder sea trials with success from 2013 to 2014.

Turkish-German media Deutsch Tuerkische Zeitung is reporting that during the last meeting of the Turkish National Security Council (in presence of the Turkish President) the decision was made to built the future LHD (Turkish designation: LPD Project) as an aircraft carrier capable to deploy the F-35B, the short takeoff and vertical landing (STOVL) variant of the Lockheed Martin built Joint Strike Fighter.

AFP reported that Deputy Defence Minister of Taiwan, Chiu Kuo-cheng, told parliament on Monday the ministry has approved guidelines for the design contract for an Indigenous Defence Submarine. "This means the military has officially kicked off the self-built submarine project," legislator Lin Yu-fang, who sits on parliament's defence committee, said in a statement.

Spokesman for the Northern Fleet Vadim Serga told Russian state owned news agency TASS that the voyage passed normally.
