At IDEF 2015, the International Defence Industry Fair currently held in Istanbul, Turkey, Roketsan is showcasing its AntiSubmarine Warfare (ASW) Rocket and Launching System for surface vessels. It is one of the most modern ASW systems with automatic engagement capability, detonation depth control due to time fuze and insensitive munition characteristics.

Future Italian Navy PPA and Logistic Support Ship programmes integrated into OCCAR
 
The U.S. Navy’s new, larger MQ-8C Fire Scout unmanned helicopter completed its developmental flight test. The unmanned helicopter has completed 327 flights and logged over 450 hours. The system has met all of its performance objectives that allow it to begin operational test later this year.
The Multipurpose Combat Ship Programme PPA (Pattugliatori Polivalenti d’Altura) and the Logistic Support Ship Programme LSS (Logistic Support Ship) have been formally integrated into OCCAR on 4 May 2015 with the confirmation of the PPA and LSS Programme Decisions and the respective contracts by the Italian authorities.

Indian Navy Aircraft Carrier INS Vikramaditya to be Upgraded with Defensive Weapon Systems
 
According to local media, the Indian Navy aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya (R 33) will soon enter its first scheduled maintenance. As part of this scheduled maintenance, several new weapon systems will be fitted on board the aircraft carrier. Work is to be carried out at the Naval Ship Repair Yard in the new naval base at Karwar, where is based INS Vikramaditya.

NATO Anti-Submarine Warfare Exercise ‘Dynamic Mongoose’ Starts in North Sea with Ten Navies
 
NATO started its biggest anti-submarine warfare exercises this year in the North Sea on Monday (4 May 2015), for drills focused on detecting and defending against submarines. This year the ASW exercises involves four submarines, 11 aircrafts and four surface ships. Ten Allies are joined this year for the first time by NATO partner Sweden. The objective is to provide the best anti-submarine warfare training to NATO naval forces and to guarantee their interoperability in a multi-national environment.

Pictures of the latest Russian Naval Aviation fighter, the Su-30SM have emerged on Russian spotter forums. The most recent picture shows the fourth Su-30SM serial number "38" on order for the Russian Navy. The contract for the purchase of five Su-30SM for the Russian Navy was signed in December 2013. Three jets were delivered last year and the last two (including number "38") should be delivered this year. The aircraft are manufactured by Irkut Corporation (member of United Aircraft Corporation).

SAFE Boats International bolsters Tunisian Naval Fleet with additional patrol boats
 
SAFE Boats International has recently completed an order for two (2) SAFE 65 Foot Full Cabin Inboard Boats for the Tunisian Navy. The first boat has recently arrived in Tunisia and the second boat is in the process of being delivered. These new vessels will provide the Tunisian Navy with enhanced capability to conduct search and rescue operations (SAR) and extended offshore patrols. These extremely versatile boats feature dual 1600hp diesel engines, shock mitigating seating, climate control, navigation package, and are capable of speeds in excess of 40 knots.

1st Burke Class Flight IIA Restart Destroyer John Finn DDG 113 Christened at Ingalls Shipbuilding
 
Huntington Ingalls Industries’ Ingalls Shipbuilding division christened the company’s 29th Arleigh Burke-class (DDG 51) Aegis guided missile destroyer, John Finn (DDG 113), may 2nd in front of nearly 1,000 guests. DDG 113 is named John Finn after the first Medal of Honor recipient of World War II. Finn received the honor for machine-gunning Japanese warplanes for over two hours during the December 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor despite being shot in the foot and shoulder and suffering numerous shrapnel wounds. He retired as a lieutenant after 30 years of service and died at age 100 in 2010.

Naval Forces of Russia and China to hold joint drills in Mediterranean Sea in May
 
The Russian Navy and the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN or Chinese Navy) will hold joint naval drills in the Mediterranean Sea in the middle of May in line with a plan of military exchanges, Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Geng Yansheng said Thursday. In what will be a first in that part of the world for China, a total of nine warships from the two countries are to participate.
The Russian Navy and the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN or Chinese Navy) will hold joint naval drills in the Mediterranean Sea in the middle of May in line with a plan of military exchanges, Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Geng Yansheng said Thursday. A total of nine warships from the two countries are to participate in what will be a first in that part of the world for China.

If the report is accurate, Vietnam would become the first Southeast Asian nation with a submarine launched land attack cruise missiles capability.
