"The Aviakor Enterprise has delivered An-140 planes to the Navy. The enterprise is fulfilling the state defense order on time and working smoothly," the Defense Ministry’s press office quoted Borisov as saying.

During the visit to the enterprise, Borisov was shown the process of repairing Tupolev Tu-154 (NATO reporting name: Careless) planes. The Aviakor Enterprise is repairing Tu-154 aircraft under state contracts signed with the Defense Ministry, the press office added.

The An-140 plane has been developed to replace the An-24 (Coke) and Yakovlev Yak-40 (Codling) airliners and the An-26 (Curl), An-30 (Clank) and An-32 (Cline) cargo-carrying aircraft.

The Russian-made An-140 plane performed its debut flight in August 2005.

The Aviakor Aircraft-Manufacturing Enterprise started producing the An-140 plane in 2006.

The Enterprise’s administration said in 2015 that it had suspended the production of the An-140 plane due to the situation in Ukraine where the Antonov Design Bureau and 34 component suppliers were located.

The Enterprise was planning to manufacture several more An-140 planes, using components purchased earlier.
