The Kronstadt Group successfully held test trials of an unmanned boat in the water range in Kurortny district of St. Petersburg, the press service of the company said. The robotized boat is designated for operations close to the coastline and is a super-small self-propelled catamaran with an electric power plant and autonomous computer system, the Kronstadt said.

The post-floating test trials checked the static stability of the boat, as well as the float with a payload of 60 kilograms. Sea trials are to take place in the near future to test the autopilot operations with real control response, maximum speed, cruising and communications range trials.

The boat was designed as a universal platform to accommodate small payload devices which transmit data to a command post by a radio channel. The robotized boat can be successfully engaged in geospace reconnaissance, search for objects on the seabed, in the depth of water and in sediments, control the situation in water areas and track objects also at nighttime. It optimizes data collection on depths and currents, quickly inspects the hulls of docks, vessels, dams, bridge pillars, tide gates, etc. It can also carry an unmanned underwater craft or a small multicopter.

The Kronstadt-designed boat is equipped with onboard computer control system which ensures maximum power efficiency and failure safety.

The new design was presented at the International military-technical Army-2017 forum and received a lot of positive response from civilian and military representatives.
