US Navy awards MK54 torpedo contract

Ultra Electronics Ocean Systems, Braintree, Massachusetts, is awarded a $42.1 million fixed-price-incentive-fee, firm-fixed price, cost and cost-plus-fixed-fee contract to test, produce and deliver MK54 MOD 0 Lightweight Torpedo (LWT) array kits and related spares, production support material, engineering and hardware repair services and maintenance of government-furnished equipment.

This contract includes options which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of this contract to $335.9 million. This contract combines purchases for the Navy (51 percent); the government of Taiwan (46 percent); and Canada (3 percent) under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program.

Work will be performed in Braintree, Massachusetts (70 percent); and Lititz, Pennsylvania (30 percent), and is expected to be completed by September 2022. FMS and fiscal 2018 weapons procurement (Navy) funding in the amount of $42.1 million will be obligated at time of award and will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured via the Federal Business Opportunities website, with one offer received. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, District of Columbia, is the contracting activity (N00024-18-C-6405).
