First stage construction of Russian Navy Project 23370G large hydrographic boat Alexander Firsov


According to information released by the Russian press agency TASS on July 31, 2020, the KAMPO Company has completed the first stage of the construction of the Project 23370G large hydrographic boat Alexander Firsov designed for the Russian Navy, the Russian Defense Ministry’s press office said.

The modules of the boat were loaded on special vehicles in Orekhovo-Zuyevo in the Moscow Region and were taken to the outfitting facility in Sevastopol in Crimea for their final assembly, the press office added.

“The modules were unloaded and assembled at the KAMPO Company’s manufacturing site in Sevastopol. The large hydrographic vessel is currently preparing for trials. Then, it will join the Black Sea Fleet in October,” the press office said.

The boat was designated as Alexander Firsov on order of Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief Admiral Nikolai Yevmenov.

The Project 23370G boat is designed for navigational equipment maintenance, hydrographic operations, installation, removal and maintenance of buoys, and transportation of maintenance teams, food, fuel and other supplies to coastal-based navigation facilities, including those on unprepared shores. It can conduct depth measurement with the use of an echo sounder for buoy installation.

The Project 23370G modular boat derives from the Project 23370 and Project 23370M vessels being built by the KAMPO Company for the Navy’s search-and-rescue forces. The boat has a displacement of about 140 tons.
