Vietnam Shipbuilding Company will deliver 50 patrol boats to Nigeria

According to the Facebook account VietDefense, Vietnam will deliver a large number of patrol boats to Nigeria. The boats were ordered by Nigerian billionaire Benedict Peters on behalf of the company Marine Assets And Offshore Equipment Limited, a Nigerian firm that specializes in procuring vessels to support the marine industry of Nigeria along with other African countries.

A picture was released on the Facebook account of VietDefense showing the construction of patrol boats with a design like the Manta or D300 speedboats at the Hong Ha Shipbuilding Company facility in Haiphong.

According to VietDefense, Mister Benedict Peters has invested $2 million USD into the Hồng Hà shipbuilding company. Hồng Hà is a Vietnamese shipbuilding that have already design and manufactured different types of patrol boats.

Another Vietnamese Company called JSC James Boat has also built 50 NPU-650 patrol boats for Nigeria.

In November 2013, it was announced that the Nigerian Navy (NN) took delivery of three new 17 meter-long Manta Mk II ASD Littoral Interceptors and one new 25 meter-long Shaldag Mk II Fast Patrol Craft.
