“The crew and industry representatives trained defense by engaging an antitorpedo from Paket antisubmarine complex in the Baltic Sea,” it said. The Alexin small antisubmarine ship attacked the frigate with a training torpedo. The Admiral Kasatonov repelled the attack.
Paket antisubmarine complex destroys submarines and torpedoes close to the warship. It comprises a control system, specialized acoustic target detection station, launchers with small torpedoes in hot-wire antisubmarine and antitorpedo options. The complex automatically provides aiming information from acoustic stations, detects, classifies and determines movement parameters of attacking torpedoes.
The Admiral Flota Kasatonov is an Admiral Gorshkov class frigate of the Russian Navy and the second ship of the class. She was laid down on 26 November 2009[3] and launched on 12 December 2014. Frigates of project 22350 are designated to fight submarines and warships in oceans and seas and to repel air attacks both independently and within formations. The hull of the frigates is flush-decked. It has a three-island superstructure, one mast-turret and one steel funnel. Stealth technologies were used in the construction to make the warship practically invisible for the radars of the potential adversary.
The displacement of Admiral Kasatonov frigate is close to 4450 tons, the length is 135 meters. Diesel gas-turbine power plant has a capacity of 65000 horsepower. The warship is armed with a new 130mm artillery gun A-192, anti-ship, anti-submarine and anti-aircraft missiles, including Kalibr and Poliment-Redut. It can carry Ka-27 helicopter or its modifications.
