Mozambique Orders 3 More HSI32 Interceptors from French shipyard CMN, First Trimaran launched

CMN confirms the signing of a new export contract with Mozambique: Three more HSI32 Interceptors have just been ordered for the Navy of Mozambique. This is in addition to the three OCEAN EAGLE 43 trimaran patrol vessels and three HSI32 interceptors (and several fishing vessels) that were ordered by the African nation back in September 2013. Meanwhile, the first trimaran patrol vessel has just been launched by the French Shipyard.

CMN who contacted Navy Recognition explained that the first 3 HSI32 will be delivered from Cherbourg in early summer 2015. The 3 new HSI32 will de deliverered from December 2015 with a rate of one ship every 2 months.

CMN HSI32 Interceptor

The HSI32 is designed to meet the needs of modern Navies and Coast Guards. The HSI32 is a fast interceptor which combines significant intelligence and surveillance capacities with high speed (45 knots) and extended patrol period of 3 days.

CMN has sought to develop a versatile interceptor, efficient and easy to use for conducting anti-piracy, anti-terrorism, or control of illicit trafficking missions.

The HSI32 has a range of 800 nautical miles (approximately) with a crew of only 12 sailors. This new advanced interceptor comes with a RHIB launching ramp at the stern and a 360° bridge.

The HSI32 is fitted with self-defense capabilities including a 20 mm remote weapon system plus two 12.7 mm machine guns with a field of 360° coverage.

In terms of electronic warfare, the HSI32 comes with advanced detection and surveillance sensors:
» C-ESM
» Electro-optical sensors
» Surveillance radar
» Navigation radar
» Satcom datalink for image, video and tactical data upload and download

All sensors are fused and integrated with the Combat Management System and the Integrated Navigation System.

OCEAN EAGLE 43

Meanwhile, the first of three trimaran patrol vessel (ordered as part of the contract signed in September 2013) has just been launched by the French Shipyard. The OCEAN EAGLE 43 is a revolutionary concept with exceptional performance designed to meet the needs of maritime surveillance and security. The OCEAN EAGLE 43 is the result of a fruitful collaboration between CMN, naval architect Nigel Irens, ProLarge and SeaTeam Aviation companies, two small businesses specialized in logistics and operational projects at sea.

The OCEAN EAGLE 43 is a compact high-performance multifunction vessel that is suited to protect coastal areas, strategic offshore infrastructures. It can also conduct electronic warfare and intelligence missions through the use of 300 Kg class VTOL UAV (such as the SCHIEBEL S100 Camcopter).

The OCEAN EAGLE 43 offers an unmatched cost to performance ratio:
» 3,000 nautical miles autonomy at 20 knots
» Top speed of 30 knots sustainable over a distance of 1,000 nautical miles
» Limited crew of 7 sailors
» Accomodations for 8 additional Special Forces

At Euronaval 2014, CMN unveiled a mine warfare variant of the Ocean Eagle.
