The S-10 is equipped with a conformal array sonar for long range detection. The S-10 is able to search mines efficiently while staying at a safe distance from mine counter measure vessel. This allows S-10 to counter underwater mines which have smart target detection algorithm and large blast effect area.

The S-10 features cross fan beam classification sonar, high thrust power and low acoustic noise propulsion units, 2 disposable charges and 2 tether cutters.

The S-10 Type 1 is fitted aboard the Japan Marine Self Defense Force (JMSDF) Hirashima-class of MCM vessels.
