The French defence procurement agency (DGA) and the French Navy (Marine Nationale) started discussions with the United States regarding Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS) for the potential future French aircraft carrier. According to our information, the program will be known as "PA NG" (for porte-avions de nouvelle génération in French).

The French Navy (Marine Nationale) is set to get its own cooperative engagement capability or CEC. The TSMPF (for "tenue de situation multi-platformes") or "veille coopérative navale", is a multi-platform engagement capability demonstrator system which has been under development by the French Navy, the French defence procurement agency (DGA) and the French industry.

The French Navy (Marine Nationale) last two FREMM Frigates (in anti-submarine warfare variant) Bretagne (D655) and Normandie (D651) have been modified in order to be able to deploy MBDA's Aster 30 long range surface to air missiles. Earlier frigates of the class are limited to the shorter range Aster 15 missiles because of shorter VLS systems.

MBDA is working on a navalized variant of its new MMP Missile Moyenne Portée (Medium-Range Missile) fifth generation land combat missile system. This was unveiled to us during the Euronaval 2018 press trip.
