Rolls-Royce has achieved a significant milestone for the Italian Navy’s new Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) multi-purpose amphibious vessel, to be built by Fincantieri one of the world’s largest shipbuilding groups, by successfully completing the factory acceptance test for the vessel’s first MT30 Gas Turbine.

Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief Admiral Vladimir Korolyov has visited one of the eldest Russian manufacturers of command, control and communication (C3) equipment for the Navy, Inteltech JSC (a subsidiary of the United Instrument Corporation), and personally checked up on the development and production of submarine and surface ship communications systems under the defense procurement program, Russian Navy Spokesman Captain 1st Rank Igor Dygalo told journalists.

Five E-2D Advanced Hawkeye carrier-capable tactical airborne early warning aircraft, assigned to the "Tigertails" of Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron (VAW) 125, arrived at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni in Japan. VAW-125 will support the USS Ronald Reagan Carrier Strike Group in the region.

The Republic of Korea Navy (ROK Navy) announced that four of its newly acquired AW159 Wildcat maritime helicopters are now operational. The ROK Navy is currently conducting an anti-submarine warfare (ASW) training South of Geoje Island in Gyeongsangnam-do. One of the Wildcats is attached to the new Incheon-class frigate Gwangju (the last unit in the FFX-I series) for the drills.

Littoral combat ship USS Coronado (LCS 4) headed out to sea from Changi Naval Base, Jan. 31, after completing a maintenance availability in port. While at sea, Coronado Sailors will conduct flight operations, small-caliber action team training and engineering operational testing. The underway follows a successful in-port maintenance availability where the ship conducted corrective maintenance as well as more than 900 preventive maintenance checks throughout the ship.
