The Admiral Kasatonov first serial frigate of project 22350 fired Kalibr and Onix missiles in the White Sea, the Defense Ministry said. The frigate began trials on November 20 and will continue them in the White Sea for several more days.

The fire was held in the framework of running trials. The frigate fired one Kalibr and one Onix missiles. They successfully hit the targets," it said.
Il-20 aircraft registered flight telemetry and Il-38 antisubmarine aircraft of the Northern fleet monitored the targets.
At the next stage of trials, the frigate fired a Kalibr missile 3M-14 at a target in Chizha range in Arkhangelsk region. Il-20 of the Northern fleet registered the flight telemetry.
The warship was laid by Severnaya Verf Shipyard in St. Petersburg on November 26, 2009, and floated on December 12, 2014. It has to become operational in late 2019.
Frigates of project 22350 are designated to fight submarines and warships in oceans and seas and to repel air attacks both independently and within formations. The hull of the frigates is flush-decked. It has a three-island superstructure, one mast-turret and one steel funnel. Stealth technologies were used in the construction to make the warship practically invisible for the radars of the potential adversary.
The ship's purpose is to combat surface and aerial targets and asymmetrical threats, as well as patrol and protect approach routes and sea communication lines, escort and protect commercial units. The unit is also adapted to control sea routes as an element of multinational forces, combating piracy and maritime terrorism, cooperation with special forces in securing their activities and participation in humanitarian and ecological actions - informs in the official statement the Operational Center of the Minister of National Defense.
The displacement is close to 4450 tons, the length is 135 meters. Diesel gas-turbine power plant has a capacity of 65000 horsepower. The warship is armed with a new 130mm artillery gun A-192, anti-ship, anti-submarine and anti-aircraft missiles, including Kalibr and Poliment-Redut. It can carry a Ka-27 helicopter or its modifications.
