French Naval Task Force to train during Morskoul 19.3 next to Brittany Coast


The 19.3 edition of the Morskoul operational training took place along the coasts of Brittany from 23 to 27 September 2019. Conducted four times a year, Morskoul's goal is to maintain and develop the operational readiness of crews on the Atlantic seaboard.

It brought together various units and capabilities of the Naval Task Force, first and foremost the multi-mission Frigate (FREMM) Aquitaine , OTC (Officer in Tactical Command) exercise, but also the command and replenishment building Var , specially from Toulon, the High Seas Patrol Manger Commander Blaison , the Minehunters Pegasus and Andromeda , the sonar towing vessels Antares and Aldebaran as well as the VN Partisan .

FREMM Brittany partially participated in the exercise as part of its operational conditioning, the Thetis Mine Warfare Test Building also providing assistance for assistance and visit exercise.

The ships were able to sail and train together for a week, alongside Rafale Marine of the 17F and 11F, Caiman Marine of the 33F, Lynx of the 34F and Atlantic 2 of the 21F.

Despite difficult weather conditions, most of the planned exercises were conducted: sea-to-air refuelling, anti-aircraft drills, mine sweep, towing, and sightseeing followed one another throughout the week.

Conducted four times a year, Morskoul's goal is to maintain and develop the operational readiness of crews on the Atlantic seaboard, with a focus on mutual training, requiring the presence of several units, some of which specialize in BCR Var. A goal fully achieved during this busy week for the sailors involved.
