According to information published by the Brazilian navy, from 16 to 18 October 2020, the Brazilian navy has completed another stage of the Submarine Development Program (PROSUB), with the propulsion tests of the new diesel-electric submarine S40 “Riachuelo” that were carried out in a maritime area located in the interior of Sepetiba Bay, on the south coast of Rio de Janeiro.

It is a biennial, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff-directed, U.S. Indo-Pacific Command-scheduled, and U.S. Pacific Fleet-sponsored field training exercise (FTX). The joint/bilateral FTX runs through November 5, 2020.
