The tug is currently undergoing shipbuilders sea trials in the Baltic Sea, the press office added. When the tug completes its shipbuilders sea and state trials, it will join the Baltic Fleet and will operate as part of the formation of auxiliary vessels of the fleet’s Leningrad naval base.

It was reported in June that the Baltic Fleet had received a same-type tug in accordance with the state defense order.

The tug is designed to perform towing operations at naval bases, in roadsteads, river and sea areas, as well as to extinguish fires and participate in search and rescue operations. It can tow ships, vessels, and submarines with a displacement of up to 1,000 tons and perform canting operations in shallow waters.

Shet was developed by Vympel Design Bureau (Nizhny Novgorod, Russia). The vessel is designed to support towing and tilting operations, and is a small steel shallow draft harbor tug with a wheelhouse.

Two DEUTZ BF6M1015MC diesel engines operate on 2 adjustable pitch propellers with a diameter of 1,1 m made of bronze, located in non-rotating nozzles.

The vessel is equipped with two 22 kW diesel generators. The depth of the side of the tug is 2,5 meters, the bollard pull in the mooring mode is 50 kN. The autonomy of the tug is 3 days.
