According to information published by Tass on November 21, 2022, the Project 636.3 diesel-electric submarine Mozhaisk is planned to be launched in the spring of 2023 in St. Petersburg in northwest Russia, hydraulic tests of all the modules have been completed on the submarine Yakutsk, now specialists are carrying out electrical and fitter’s work and hull insulation.

Buzakov added that the submarines would be delivered to the customer within the timeframe established by the contract and would join the Pacific Fleet.
The shipyard’s press office also said that the submarines of modified project 636 had higher combat effectiveness compared to the previous projects. The submarine’s low acoustic signature, long target detection range, advanced inertial navigation system, modern automated information management system, powerful high-speed torpedo and missile armament give it a priority in the field of conventional submarine shipbuilding.

The Project 636.3 sub has a submerged speed of 18 knots, a depth of submergence of 300 m, a cruising capacity of 45 days, a cruising range of up to 7,500 miles. It has a 52-strong crew.
The upgraded submarines are superior to previous representatives of the project in terms of diesel generator power, full submerged speed; they have a much lower level of underwater noise.
They have an optimal combination of target detection range and acoustic stealth; it is equipped with an automated information and control system and a modern inertial navigation system, which ensures the best characteristics among similar submarines.
On November 16, the Project 636.3 diesel-electric submarine Ufa built by the Admiralty Wharves Shipyard joined the Navy. The Pacific Fleet is expected to receive all six submarines of the project armed with Kalibr missiles by 2024.
