In 2021, the MEKO A200 class experienced its first launch in May, followed by the launching of the second and third frigates later in the year. These ships, named ENS Al-Aziz (FFG-904) and ENS Al-Qahhar (FFG-905), are part of the MEKO A200 series developed by the German shipyard Blohm + Voss., part of the MEKO family of warships, which also includes the MEKO A-100 corvette.

These vessels have a full-load displacement of 3,400 tons, with a length of 118 meters and a beam of 14.8 meters. Their draft is 4.3 meters.

They are powered by a Combined Diesel or Gas (CODOG) arrangement, consisting of one General Electric LM2500 gas turbine and two 12V 1163 TB83 diesel engines. This propulsion system enables the MEKO A200 class frigates to reach speeds of up to 32 knots (59 km/h) and a range of 11,000 kilometers.

The armament of the MEKO A200 class includes a diverse array of weapons. Each vessel is equipped with an Oto Melara 127 mm gun using Volcano ammunition, 16 RBS-15 launchers, and 32 vertical launch cells for Umkhonto and RIM-162 ESSM missiles. The frigates also feature two Denel 35 mm guns, two MU90 torpedo launchers, four Rheinmetall decoy launchers, and two NGDS launchers by Sagem.
