Naval Group has signed contracts with five Hellenic companies as part of its Hellenic Industrial Participation (HIP) plan related to the FDI HN frigates program, under the Foreign Direct Investment program for the Hellenic Navy.
The contracts were signed on May 9th, 2023 at the DEFEA exhibition in Athens. The HIP plan was launched in March 2022 at the start of the FDI HN program, and with the contracts signed on May 9th, the plan now involves over 60 Hellenic companies, providing high skilled jobs and economic benefits for Greece.
The contracts cover a range of activities, including pre-outfitting, optronic activities, mechanical equipment production and supply, naval weapons component production, and new activities involving welders and pipe fitters in Naval Group's shipyard in Lorient.
DENaval Group seeks to establish a long-term partnership with the Hellenic defense industry and to develop its footprint in Greece through partnerships with the Hellenic industry, research, and academic partners.
The company aims to enlarge the Hellenic companies' participation in its global supply chain, which will provide opportunities for them to participate in other programs and future international competitions.
Naval Group's HIP plan will not only contribute to the construction and support of the FDI HN but also to the creation of a robust naval industrial ecosystem in Greece. This structured and long-term partnership will foster production in Greece and enhance the capability to address future needs.

About the FDI HN
The FDI HN is an impressive naval vessel with a displacement of 4,500 tons, a length of approximately 122 meters, and a width of 18 meters. With a maximum speed of 27 knots, the frigate can travel quickly and efficiently across the sea. Her aviation facilities are also notable, as she can accommodate a 10-ton class helicopter and a VTOL unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).
The FDI HN is armed with advanced weaponry, including 32 Aster missiles and 8 Exocet MM40 B3C missiles developed by MBDA, RAM missiles, MU 90 torpedoes developed by Naval Group, a 76 mm gun, 4 torpedo tubes, and CANTO countermeasures also developed by Naval Group.
