Informed sources revealed that on February 27th, the Hai Kun will be transferred from the Haichang Factory to the CSBC Corporation, Taiwan's dry dock via the CITIC No. 8 floating dock for its preparatory inclining experiment.
This test is essential to verify the submarine's buoyancy accuracy, marking a pivotal step in ensuring the vessel's readiness for operational duties. The submarine is part of a broader testing and evaluation process that includes harbor tests, at-sea trials (SAT), and combat system verifications through torpedo launches.
About the submarine
It has a displacement of around 2,500 tons and measures approximately 70 meters (229 feet 8 inches) in length. The submarine is powered by a diesel/electric propulsion system that utilizes lithium-ion battery technology, aimed at enhancing its operational range and reducing noise levels for stealth operations.
The submarine's design allows it to reach test depths between 350 and 420 meters (1,150 to 1,380 feet), enabling it to operate in deep waters. In terms of armament, the Hai Kun class is equipped with MK 48 Mod6 AT torpedoes and UGM-84L Harpoon missiles, allowing it to engage various targets, including enemy submarines, surface ships, and coastal defenses.
