Thales celebrated the launch of the first Offshore Fisheries Science Vessel OFSV
On December 8, 2017 Thales celebrated the launch of the first Offshore Fisheries Science Vessel (OFSV) at Seaspan Shipyards. This first of class vessel represents a remarkable achievement as the first large non-combat ship to be designed and built under Canada’s National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS), demonstrating the domestic shipbuilding industry’s strength and capabilities.

On December 8, 2017 Thales celebrated the launch of the first Offshore Fisheries Science Vessel (OFSV) at Seaspan Shipyards. This first of class vessel represents a remarkable achievement as the first large non-combat ship to be designed and built under Canada’s National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS), demonstrating the domestic shipbuilding industry’s strength and capabilities.

The NSS enables Thales to make significant investments in its people, processes, and facilities, supporting the creation of 80 highly skilled jobs in Ottawa, Vancouver and Victoria.

In addition, Thales is responsible for the assembly and integration of the bridge of the OFSV that will be relied upon by the Canadian Coast Guard, its scientists and researchers to better understand our maritime environment,” said Mark Halinaty, President & CEO of Thales in Canada.
