The Zhangjiakou (Hull 605) corvette attached to a frigate flotilla with the Chinese Navy under the PLA Northern Theater Command has conducted live-firing with its main-gun against mockup target on the sea during a maritime training exercise in waters of the Yellow Sea in mid-December, 2020.

The Zhangjiakou is a Type 056A Jiangdao-class corvette of the Chiese Navy launched in January 2019 and commissioned in April 2020. The Type 056 is a class of corvette in service with the Chinese navy, the Type 056A is the anti-submarine warfare (ASW) variant which is equipped with variable depth sonars used for detecting and tracking submarines.

The Zhangjiakou corvette has a length of 90 m, a beam of 11.14 m, a draught of 4 m, and a displacement of 1,500 tons. The ship is powered by two SEMT Pielstick PA6-STC diesel motors and can reach a top speed of 25 kn (46 km/h; 29 mph) with a cruising range of 3,500 nmi (6,500 km; 4,000 mi) at 16 kn (30 km/h; 18 mph). The rear of the ship has a flight deck that can be used to operate light to medium helicopter as the Z-11 or the Z-9 helicopter.

The Zhangjiakou corvette is armed with one AK-176 76 mm naval gun, two 30 mm. automatic cannons, eight multi-barrel rocket launchers, one 8-cell FL-3000N SAM (Surface-to-air) launcher and two triple 324 mm torpedo tubes.
