CTruk unveiled its THOR multi-role force protection craft during DSEI 2013

First time exhibitor, CTruk, is launching its new Twin Hulled Offshore Raider (THOR) at DSEI in London from 10-13 September 2013. In addition to CTruk’s stand presence (S8-298), THOR is taking part in the twice-daily waterborne displays adjacent to the ExCel venue and seats are available on board for journalists who wish to experience THOR’s capabilities as a fast and stable force protection craft.

THOR is a multi-role, reconfigurable and affordable vessel with a range of applications from force protection to disaster relief. THOR has a lightweight composite construction, which gives excellent fuel efficiency, thereby saving on operating costs and maximising time on task. With a length of 11m and a top speed in excess of 40 knots, THOR is fast and suitable for sustained operations over long distances and time periods. THOR is fitted with a remote weapon station and other crew served weapons and it can be rapidly deployed via a C17 or A400M, it can be carried in mission bays of surface combatants and also from a CTruk 50T mother ship.

Alastair Stangroom, Director of Operations for CTruk’s Military and Security Division, commented: “We are all extremely excited about the launch of THOR. Not only is it an outstanding and ingenious design, but the combined creative excellence of the CTruk CAP consortium has delivered a vessel that ticks all the boxes in terms of multi-role, high performance and cost efficiency.”

THOR is currently fitted with Saab's Trackfire RWS 50 cal and 7.62.

It could be fitted with a 20mm cannon such as MSI's Seahawk lightweight.
CTruk is in discussions with MBDA for the possible integration of Brimstone missile on the THOR.

Designed by CTruk, THOR incorporates a range of high-tech equipment, provided through the CTruk Collaborative Amphibious Project (CAP), a consortium of key subsystems manufacturers that have joined forces to deliver an innovative vessel design with advanced options.
