Among the large number of high quality entries, the jury, made up of journalists and professionals, chose 3 winners representing the industrial vitality of the international naval sector:

The EURONAVAL Trophy for “DRONES - ROBOTICS - AUTONOMOUS SYSTEMS” is awarded to the company ECA for the development of STERNA®: providing a competitive alternative to a fixed or portable naval magnetic ranging system, allowing the vessel in operation to have near real-time protective action in terms of risk of magnetic sensors. The ECA group is recognised for its expertise in robotics, automated systems, simulation and industrial processes. Since 1936 the company has been developing innovative and comprehensive technological solutions for complex missions. Their offer is geared to an international client base with rigorous demands in terms of security and efficiency.

The EURONAVAL Trophy for “CONCEPTSHIPS - VESSEL OF THE FUTURE” is awarded to the company VOITH TURBO, for the VOITH LINEAR JET. The objective is to improve the capacities of multi-mission ships by developing a new propulsion system that provides optimum performance on the ship’s entire speed range. Voith Turbo is present in sectors covering hydroelectrics, power transmission for rail and road and maritime propulsion. The group represents 20,000 collaborators across the globe. Voith Turbo’s best-known product is the Voith Schneider, a unique propulsion system with a vertical rotation axis, where the majority of propulsion systems have a horizontal rotation axis.

The GICAN Trophy for “DIGITAL - VIRTUAL AND AUGMENTED REALITY SIMULATION IMULATION” is awarded to the company SBS Interactive. The GICAN Trophy 2016 has been given to VIS-On: the innovative solution software for enriched reality virtualization making it possible to visualise every single detail of a vessel in record time. It requires just one week aboard to photograph a frigate or submarine in its entirety. About one month later, the client can visit their virtual ship, take measurements, add maintenance tasks and documentation. SBS specialises in the development of innovative software solutions using 360° 3D photos and videos. It is a French SME, developing and marketing the VIS-On software to create a hyperrealistic virtual vessel using 360° photos.
