During IMDEX 2019 that was held in Singapore, one of the Army Recognition Editorial Teams has had the chance to go onboard the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) Xiangtan frigate. This frigate, as 20 other warships coming from various countries, came to the Changi Naval Base, in Singapore, for IMDEX.

The Swedish Navy’s two new A26 submarines will be named HSwMS Blekinge and HSwMS Skåne. The names of the two new submarines were approved by Swedish king Carl XVI Gustaf, according to the Swedish Navy ship naming tradition, the defense ministry said. The ministry further said that the first submarine would be delivered in 2024, and the second one in 2025. HSwMS Blekinge was originally scheduled to be delivered in 2022.

On May 14, at IMDEX Asia 2019, Damen Schelde's President Director, Sir Hein van Ameijden, told Navy Recognition that the Dutch shipbuilder was hoping to build some SIGMA 10514 Perusak Kawal Rudal (PKR) frigates for the Indonesian Navy. He also added that the company was expecting some business in South East Asia, including Singapore.

The JS Izumo, a helicopter carrier and one of the largest ship of the Japanese Navy takes part at IMDEX Asia 2019, maritime and defence exhibition which takes place in Singapore from 14 to 16 May 2019. The ships of this class are currently the largest surface combatants of the JMSDF (Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force), taking over the mantle previously held by the Hyūga-class helicopter destroyers.

Also showcased by ST Engineering at IMDEX are solutions designed for smart maintenance which include predictive maintenance, maintenance management and VR training. Making its debut at IMDEX 2019, the Integrated Ship Bridge Simulator offers a realistic environment that promotes collaborative training in ship-handling, engineering watch and combat operations for the navy crew.

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) continues to promote its Katana advanced, multi-purpose, unmanned surface vessel (USV) at IMDEX 2019. The KATANA solution provides unmanned capabilities for the entire range of Homeland Security and Naval applications. KATANA also provides manual and fully autonomous operation, along with a modular, flexible design to suit the customer’s requirements

At IMDEX 2019, Asia Pacific's premier international maritime defence show, ST Engineering has announced the launch of its upgraded SkyArcher Counter Drone System that enables the safe takedown of unauthorised drones, landing them at designated safe zones without damaging legitimate drones or causing any public safety and security issues.

CONTROP Precision Technologies Ltd, a company specializing in Electro-Optics (EO) and InfraRed (IR) Defense and Homeland Security solutions highlight the iSea-25HD at IMDEX 2019. The new and lightweight EO/IR payload has unsurpassed maritime surveillance capabilities, and was specially configured for observation from maritime vessels - even small boats and even in the harshest and most challenging environmental conditions.

OPV-45 is designed for a wide range of Naval, para-military and HLS missions, and can carry a variety of payloads according to mission requirements.

At IMDEX Asia exhibition 2019 (International Maritime Defence Exhibition & Conference), on 14-16 May in Singapore, Terma will showcase its state-of-the-art SCANTER surveillance radars ideal for detecting and tracking non-cooperative small targets in extreme weather conditions.
