YJ-83

The YJ-83 anti-ship missile measures 6.38 meters in length with a diameter of 360 millimeters and a wingspan of 1,220 millimeters. It operates at cruising altitudes between 20-30 meters, dropping to 5-7 meters in its terminal phase.

The missile can achieve speeds of Mach 0.9 in cruise and Mach 1.4 during its terminal phase. It employs an inertial navigation system paired with active radar homing for terminal guidance. The YJ-83 has an operational range that varies, depending on the model, from 120 km to 230 km.

Its warhead also varies by model: the YJ-83 features a 190 kg high-explosive fragmentation warhead, whereas the YJ-83K is equipped with a 165 kg high-explosive, semi-armour piercing warhead. The missile is powered by a CTJ-2 turbojet engine and can be launched from both land and air platforms.

Type 056

The missile's launching platform, the Type 056 corvette, known as the Jiangdao-class corvette in NATO parlance, is a vessel used by the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN).

Introduced to service in February 2013, she has a displacement of 1,500 tons, a length of 90 meters, a beam of 11.14 meters, and a draught of 4 meters.

Driven by two SEMT Pielstick PA6-STC diesel engines, the corvette can reach speeds of 25 knots and has a range of 3,500 nautical miles when cruising at 16 knots. She can house up to 78 crew members.

For navigation and combat, the Type 056 is equipped with the Type 360 air/surface search radar and the Type 347G fire control radar. Some variants also include bow sonar and a combination of towed array and variable depth sonar.

Her weaponry includes an AK-176 76 mm gun, two H/PJ-17 30 mm autocannons, two 2-cell YJ-83 anti-ship missile launchers, an 8-cell FL-3000N SAM launcher, and two sets of triple 324 mm torpedo tubes. Additionally, the corvette has a helipad, suitable for a medium-lift helicopter like the Harbin Z-9.
