These vessels measure approximately 90 meters in length and have a displacement of around 2,300 tons. They incorporate an integrated combat management system and are designed to operate within international missions for entities such as NATO and the EU.

Their functionalities will allow the Bulgarian Navy to respond to various threats, ranging from air to underwater. The MMPV project is among the larger undertakings for the Bulgarian Naval Forces. The first vessel is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2025, followed by the second one in 2026.

The vessels feature a range of electronics including the Saab Sea Giraffe AMB radar, Saab Ceros 200 Fire Control System, and an Electro-optical Fire Control Director.

They are also equipped with various armaments like the 76mm Oto Melara gun, the 35mm Oerlikon Millenium gun, and missile systems such as the SSM Saab RBS 13 Mk3.

Accommodations for an aircraft include a hangar with the capability to house the Eurocopter AS565 Panther. These ships use a CODAD propulsion system, consisting of two diesel engines, enabling them to reach speeds up to 24 knots.

Bulgarian Navy

In the wake of introducing their first MMPV, it's pertinent to highlight the Bulgarian Navy's longstanding association with other naval assets, notably the Pauk-class and Tarantul-class corvettes.

The Pauk-class corvettes are nimble and versatile, primarily designed for anti-submarine warfare. Compact yet formidable, they are a reflection of the Soviet era's approach to littoral warfare, combining speed with an array of anti-submarine weaponry.

On the other hand, the Tarantul-class corvettes are known for their missile capabilities. These missile corvettes, also a product of Soviet naval engineering, are equipped with powerful anti-ship missiles, making them a significant threat to larger naval vessels.
