The agenda for the visit includes collaborative discussions with the UAE Naval Force, focusing on maritime operations and the sharing of best practices. This interaction aims to boost cooperation and fortify the naval bond between the two nations. The bilateral exercise ‘Zayed Talwar’ with the UAE navy is also on the itinerary, intending to amplify interoperability and harmony.

UAE-Indian defense relations

In February 2016, agreements were established to enhance defense and security cooperation, which included joint military trainings and exercises. One such exercise, the ‘Desert Eagle II’ air combat drill, occurred from May to June 2016, with participation from the air forces of both nations.

Additionally, defense exhibitions in both countries saw participation from Indian and Emirati military entities, with discussions about potential co-production of defense equipment in India and defense trade opportunities with the UAE.

In January 2017, India approved a memorandum of understanding (MoU) regarding maritime education and training. This MoU aims to support maritime education, recognize training efforts, and encourage collaboration in maritime sectors.

The topic of enhancing maritime security in the Gulf and the Indian Ocean region was discussed during Crown Prince Al Nahyan's visit in February 2016. Additionally, there were discussions on streamlining maritime transport, customs procedures, and waste disposal methods.
